How to install Gobudgie

First information: Gobudgie does not offer any installation routine yet. If you want to install it, you need advanced knowledge about Linux.

On this page we’ll discripe how to perform a manual installation of Gobudgie. You’ll need an other Linux (Live/Installed) for this tutorial. Do not do a manual installation if you do not know the exact meaning of any of the following words: Partition, Terminal Emulator, kernel, GNU, Ubuntu Base System.

First Step is creating an empty Partition on your internal hard drive
Mount this partition to /mnt
Download the current Ubuntu Base System and extract it with administration privileges to /mnt
Download the Gobudgie Core and extract it with administration privileges to /mnt
Run sudo chroot /mnt
Run apt update
Run apt install linux-image-generic cups chromium-browser xorg lightdm lightdm-gtk-greeter arc-theme gnome-control-center
Run apt install --no-install-recommends plymouth budgie-desktop
You don’t need to use Chromium as your webbrowser, but it must be installed for the the system to work properly.
Afterwards you need to download and install the DEBs of Shashlik, WPS office (you need to download the libpng dependency from xenial on packages.ubuntu.com), Slingscold (available on Launchpad with its dependencys), Albert (on LP) and Gnome-Pie (on LP).
Last but not least you need to download gobudgie-wallpapers and plymouth-theme-gobudgie from SourceForge. Install gobudgie-wallpapers using chroot to /mnt and extract plymouth-theme-gobudgie to /mnt
Run sudo chroot /mnt
Run update-alternatives --install /usr/share/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth default.plymouth /usr/share/plymouth/themes/gobudgie-logo/gobudgie-logo.plymouth 300
Run update-initramfs -k all -c
Run update-grub
Run grub-install /dev/sda
Good Luck with your freshly installed Gobudgie!
